Sonia Laguna (Team-Leader)

Hi Sonia!

Introduce yourself!
Hi! I am Sonia, a PhD student in Computer Science at the Institute of Machine Learning at ETH and co-leader of CSNOW. I did my Bachelors in Spain and my Masters here at ETH, both in Biomedical Engineering. I decided to jump into CS as I always loved solving problems, coding and analysing data during my studies, and so far, I couldn´t be happier with this decision. In my free time, I enjoy travelling as much as I can and doing all kinds of sports, particularly basketball, as I have been playing in teams my whole life and I am happy that I can still do it now.

How long have you been at CSNOW?
I joined CSNOW in February 2023.

What do you like about working at CSNOW?
I love the environment we have in the team, everyone is proactive and motivated! I also like the variety of events we organise that expose you to different crowds like students, professors, companies or, associations, it is very stimulating. It is also very nice to have an impact in the students, and to see the them benefiting from CSNOW. I really believe in promoting STEM in women, and particularly CS, and it is nice to see how the paradigm slowly changes.

What is your favourite animal?
So many! But if I have to chose one I would go for alpacas, I find them very funny.
